I think a multinational military expedition should be sent to any Islamic country to remove our war dead and bring them home so they can rest in peace on their own soil If this is what we can expect in the future. Probably not but I would volunteer to go back on such a task I don't care if they are Brit American or German dead it's wrong to allow such things to occur without repercussions it makes us look weak in front of the enemy. An enemy we could smash If they would let us fight like the old days
You guys are being a bit unfair. The Libyan government outright condemned the actions of those scumbags and pledged to bring them to justice. There's no indication whatsoever that that represents the majority of the Libyan population. This wasn't the only grave site defaced either.

I understand what you are saying Keegah and it makes a point. However I understand what L.D. is also saying. There has been death threats made to authors which have sent them into life-long hiding because they wrote against Islam. If you wish your religion to be respected then you must show respect towards others beliefs and frankly destroying their graves is not the best way to show it

I didn't get that from Al Jazeera, I got that from BBC. It wasn't only this grave site that was attacked, Muslim shrines were also defaced by the group. It was evidently a radical Muslim terrorist group, and defacing Western symbols is kind of what they do. They don't represent, not did they ever represent, the entire Muslim population - frankly, insinuating that all Muslims comprise a contiguous entity in the first place is more than a little absurd. You don't know "these people" as well as you think you do. As is the case in all things, the loudest voices are also the most visible. Did you ever live among "these people"? And no, the FOB doesn't count. If not, frankly, I don't see how you can claim to know them well enough to say whether or not the actions of a militant Islamist group reflect the mainstream Libyan population in any way whatsoever.
I'm not defending them - the scum that perpetrated this act should be hunted down and killed, man by man, in my opinion. Where we differ is that I don't believe that this proves that the Libyan people are our "enemy". That viewpoint is not only false; it's extremely dangerous.
I was outside the wire daily. Saw IEDs Daily Saw civilians hit IEDs but saw a lack of reporting from the communities . I think my statement was to the effect that we should send a expeditionary force in to recover the dead if this is what we can expect in the future. It's like this we make our people responsible for their actions should other countries do the same? That was a large gathering if they were concerned with the situation then why was no Police on hand to stop it? Where I see guilt is in lack of reporting many IEDs were planted on the roads right in front of houses. These people know Civilians could hit that and do more so than the intended target but sit silent. The only way terrorist in these countries and in the west are going to be stopped is if the Muslim communities to take more of a active roll in stopping it.
No I did not live with the people on a COP. I lived on a FOB when not out on Missions . I was no Special Forces I was just a unimportant run of the mill soldier doing my duty and looking out for my guys when outside the wire. I had my close calls just like everyone else. I was in Mosul at Diamondback. What area were you in Keegah?
