BBC News : Europe's oldest prehistoric town unearthed in Bulgaria

BBC said:
Archaeologists in Bulgaria say that have uncovered the oldest prehistoric town found to date in Europe.

The walled fortified settlement, near the modern town of Provadia, is thought to have been an important centre for salt production.

Its discovery in north-east Bulgaria may explain the huge gold hoard found nearby 40 years ago.

Archaeologists believe that the town was home to some 350 people and dates back to between 4700 and 4200 BC.

It is not quite true that this is the oldest prehistoric town ever found in Europe. I have listed 8 other towns older in six different countries, including Varna in Bulgaria (5000 BCE). But that is nevertheless an interesting discovery.

I hope as you that quickly enough searches will be done - I still wait results of skeletons (metrics, non metrics and genetics) survey about the 2008 huge discovery in Saxony-Anhalt bronze settlements and don't find anything!

anyone wanna bet what results a possible search could show?

I' d prefer a well down analysis on pieces than bets, even it htis game is pleanant sometimes
I suppose fir DNA-Y that Y-I2b was strong enough, with a mixt of strong Y-R1a, weaker Y-R1B-U106 and U152, and some remnants of neolithical Y-J2, Y-E1b-V13 and Y-G2 (very few for Y-G), some traces of Y-I2a1b, of Y-R1b-L21 too and evidently some "ancestral" Y-R-L11 and -P-312 not yet mutated in downstreams HGs..;
for mt DNA? already a strong enough presence of mt-H (I'm not very documented about detailed mt-DNA)
for metrics: heavy enough 'corded' type ('nordic'+some 'brünn'+some 'indo-irano-afghan') + heavy enough 'borreby'+ 'alpine' like people + 'dinaric' (these 3 late ones forming the "lorraine" or "noric" mixture, where some 'cromagnoid' atavism are visible) and a slight presence of the so called "gracile mrediterranean" mixture where the Coon's naming 'danubian' type could be heavy enough) - I believe still in a first 'dinaric' demic vector for B.B. in Central and North Europe
but just bets!

MOESAN
I was speaking about Saxony-Anhalt, not Bulgary!!!

And I about Bulgaria.
the interesting is that we have a strange culture, instead of Neolithic matriarchical society we probably have a male dominant system, which even after death has gold in penis.
until toay we have the first gold mettalurgy in Varna necropolis and a strange role of sea-shells in society,
I don't heard if bronze was found, I wonder further discoveries how much can change history.

Varna Necropolis creates questions like,
1 If gold mettalurgy was invented in a non IE culture, how was transmited to steppe people?
older kurgans contain copper and not gold, since we find gold in younger kurgans.
I mean about the custom to burry the dead with his gold,

oldest_city_inset_new.jpg

seems to older than IE arrival.

2. the black pottery vessels, I wonder are they connected also with globular amphora and corded-ware cultures?
I mean could these cultures be an expand of Varna culture and not steppe people creation.

3 the Megalithic structures of Europe,
as we see in Varna we have wall building with fortifications etc, walls are made by big-stone blocks like Vinca only smaller, I have no source about the artitecture's style but i know that they are simmilar but smaller, could IE language be the language of that culture?
most if not all megalithic cultures could have been build before IE even to Pommerania in the North?
anyone has any Idea?
as you see even the Phasis river of Georgia did not give so ancient gold mettalurgy (yet?)

if yes,
could we speak that Balkans are the mother land of R1 which returm at arsenic bronze era?
could we speak that IE are connected by Tumuli theory, but with Megalithic structure and gold expansion?
could we speak about IE could be a neolithic language and arsenic bronze people spoke Urallic or Turkish?
could we speak a possible expand of IE at neolithic times via structures gold and storage pottery and a return back of 'runaways' pioneers to steppe?
I mean Hettits probably were not Satem or Centum, but except Greece, whereever steppe, Turkic (or Uralic?) people expand we see satemization, arsenic bronze stops in Europe at the same frontiers about where Satem and centum IE are divided,

PS
I think again I give subjects for PHD search

you do a lot of questions (and your are right when doing it)!
very interesting for History - is there no assession to this culture?
what you say about these cultures at the crossings of future centum-satem split is interesting too - is Varna before or contemporaneous to first Cucuteni-Pripolje???
for way of life, some scholars affirmed that the steppic half-nomadic people or Ukraina (and perhaps farther) , supposed to be I-Es, was firstable agricultural sedantary people ...
I've always thought that this 'door' region has been a cultural melting pot between two ways of life and ethnies groups (crossings of Y-R1a and Y-I2a?) - the same cultural confrontation occurred between Siberia and Eastern Caspian region, linked also to the I-E question... (you know:steppic = Uralic or I-E or Turkic???)
