The post you quoted is from 2010 and it doesn't contain facts.

Concerning the possibility of R1a in Macedonian elites, theoretically anything is possible, but it is not very likely.

By the way, the history of all haplogoups is more complex than what is thought.
There are many things which are unlikely but not entirely impossible, like early presence of R1a1 in places like Crete or parts of Italy.

Last I read was from mid 2015
In an article published this week in the International Journal of Osteoarchaeology, researchers Theodore Antikas and Laura Wynn-Antikas present their new analysis is based in part on computed tomography (CT) and x-ray fluorescence (XRF) techniques.
According to new analysis the remains found inside are that of Philip II of Macedon together with a Scythian princess, and paint a picture of how they lived, almost 2,400 years ago. .

Alexander the Great had one mother, who was known, a Molossian named Olympias of Epirus was his mother and the Macedonian King Philip II

so Alexander was a mix of Macedonian and Epirote whose paternal Ancestors came via Argos in the Peloponnese.

It would mean that this family took control of the macedonian people even though they where not Macedonian................same system as a Bavarian family became kings of Greece in the 19th century
