A 13-year old Moroccan girl was allowed to get married at the townhall of Schaerbeek, an immigrant district of Brussels. The legal age for a woman to get married in Belgium is 16. The girl simply lied about her age.

With the complicity of her mother, she claimed that she had lost her ID card, and applied for a new one, using her older sister's identity (who was in Morocco at the time). Using this fraudulent document, she managed to get married to an immigrant Moroccan man who needed the marriage to obtain a visa.

The authorities only spotted the scam once the 22-year old older sister came back to Belgium and received a mail from the government stating that she was married. Unaware of ther younger sister's doing, she explained to the townhall that she wasn't married.

It is estimated that thousands of marriages in Belgium are fraudulent so as to allow immigrants to claim family reunion to stay in the country.

I think goverments should stop this... you can't rely it on the source of the problem.

How do you stop fraudulent marriages (for visas) when people lie about their age and use their look-alike sibling's ID card ?

Easy: Stopping illegal immigration from the conflictive countries (and we all know who they are).

What do you do with the millions of immigrants from these countries who already live in Europe ?

Easy...

That is not always easy.

For example, Greece is at the borders of Europe and that means that we have huge waves of illegal immigrants trying to cross our borders, hoping that they will be able to take a ship to Italy and the rest of Europe.
They mostly come to Greece through Turkish borders and Turkey doesn't agree on accepting back illegal immigrants who come to us through them (one more term of Greece that Turkey must fulfill before entering the EU).

So the state can't send them back to Turkey, they can't always find an opportunity to go to other European countries so they are stuck in Greece, which leads to a huge immigration problem here. If someone visits the center of Athens he has to pray to find a Greek.

This is not only Greece's problem though. Many illegal immigrants board on ships or trucks inside boxes and bags and manage to go to central Europe and this increases the numbers of illegal immigrants flooding Europe.

Greek borders are not only Greek, they are also European and EU should help more in guarding them...

In many Muslim countries this is the norm.
50% of all brides in Afghanistan and Yemen are children. And the husbands are usually much older, twice or even thrice. In Saudi Arabia, a young girl got married to a man who was 99 years old!!!
There are many videos on youtube if you don't believe me.

In Muslim countries, a woman is considered 'mature' (and thus able to be married off) once she reaches puberty. That could possibly be as young as 8.

Anyway, who are we to judge? We have our ways, they have theirs.

This shouldn't be happening in our countries.
