BBC News : Paris airport bars Muslim staff

BBC said:
More than 70 Muslim workers at France's main airport have been stripped of the security clearance for allegedly posing a risk to passengers, officials say.

The staff at Charles de Gaulle airport, including baggage handlers, are said to have visited terrorist training camps in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

One man is thought to have been a friend of Richard Reid, the so-called British shoe bomber.
...
Airport officials say some of the workers had frequently visited Pakistan and Afghanistan the previous year.

It is also believed another worker had been close to a senior figure in an Algerian terrorist group with links to al-Qaeda.

This is very worrisome indeed. How don't Western countries check more carefully which of their citizens or residents visit war-torn countries like Afghanistan without being a journalist, humanitarian worker or solider ? Likewise, I don't see any reason why a North African should visit Pakistan (cannot claim relatives there, and it's not a really touristic destination either, esp. since the war in Afghanistan), especially more than once in the year.

Yup, we had Hamza's son working on the London underground :okashii: (He has also been guilty of terrorist offences in the past)

I am just glad they noticed this before something dreadful happens!

:relief:
