These are the three samples from the study:

Ancient Egyptian mummy genomes suggest an increase of Sub-Saharan African ancestry in post-Roman periods

Modern Egyptians are fairly close to Ancient Egyptians, despite some augmentation throughout history. They are also the closest of all modern populations, as well.

African Americans are slightly closer than Yoruba, because of European admixture. Specifically because of shared source populations with middle easterners, like Anatolian_N and CHG.

Kemet Panafricanists are mourning.
I ve seen a paper actually that ancient Egyptians would be close to Abrahamic or Mosaic Hebrews. Or.. the other way around.

Ancient Egyptian mummy 1879bc Autosomal model

Look at the autosomal admixture models of modern Copts compared to Nakht-ankh an ancient Egyptian mummy from 1879 BC, Middle Kingdom central Egypt.

The Tomb of Two Brothers is an ancient sepulchre in Deir Rifeh, Egypt. It contains the chamber tomb of the ancient Egyptian high status priests Nakht-Ankh and Khnum-Nakht, which dates from the 12th Dynasty.

Modern Copts seem to have almost identical Neolithic admix to the Central Egypt, Middle Kingdom, 1879bc mummy. They are almost the same as the Late Kingdom sample from North Egypt but with the difference that they have more African admix. It makes sense that North Egypt would have less African admix than Central and Southern Egypt.

The coordinates of Nakht-Ankh are converted from K13 to G25. The mummy is from Central Egypt. People on anthrogenica downloaded the raw DNA data from a study and they converted them to a form that is usable on gedmatch.

Does vahaduo dodecadk12b work with this?
If not then could someone link me the dodecad globe 13 vahaduo with some sample coords

When I hear people say that the Egyptians are mostly descended from the Ancients, and still closely related to them, than I think these results are a sufficient standard for that claim. Which could be applied to other groups too.

Not that close if I read those results right. Definitely not as close as some modern Italians are to Ancient Italians.

10 and under is what mytrueancestry likes 20 they say is possible connection.

Maybe this is an over-analysis of what it means to be close though, for us to consider 10 to be very distant. For example, I've heard Razib Khan say they're "close".

Interesting results, the ancient Egyptians were certainly a product of the after math of the Iran-migration in the Bronze Age, intermixed with people indigenous to Northeastern Africa (Levantine-like with a higher gradient towards Epipaleolithic_Magreb_(Iberomaurusians)_(n=5)

I've read the news article regarding that paper and the tldr was that the ancient Egyptians are a mix of Anatolians and Near eastern people from the levant and that the added ssa admix was from post Arab conquests. The article was also stating that from the New Kingdom to the Roman that the genetics changed little which was surprising because the end of the New Kingdom to the Roman period saw many invaders like the Assyrians, Kushites, Libyans, Persians, Greeks, then later Romans. The dodecadk12b Vahaduo calculator results I posted previously appear to me to reflect the findings.

The genetic distance didn't change much 8.34 to 8.86. I'm assuming BA_Ancient_Egyptian:JK2134 is from the bronze age due to the BA at the beginning. Is that correct?

The 2way reflects the mix especially the third result in both.

Very fascinating stuff! I hope to see old kingdom and predynastic samples added in the future.

In terms of phenotype they are heterogeneous, yet are genetically homogeneous. I speculate the center one has a phenotype more influenced by Iranian/Anatolian and/or Natufian, while the one on the left I'd perhaps more Iberomaurusians. The one on the right looks more mixed between the two.

I'm currently at a lecture with Dr. Zahi Hawass at the Javit's Center in NYC.

I'm jealous. I would love to meet him and go on a tour with him as a guide in Egypt.

What was the title of the lecture? I'd like to see if someone uploaded it to YouTube.

I've been watching this youtuber named Decimali.
He takes ancient samples and runs them through Myheritage's ethinicity estimater. On a previous video I asked him to do a video on

So today he published a video about them!
