The debate over immigration and Islam is France is as hot as ever. The UMP, Sarkozy's political party, is going to choose a new leader soon, and both candidates (Fillon and Coppé) try to seduce the electorate of the Front National, France's extreme right party. There was a big scandal recently when Muslim teenagers attacked a native French teenager because he was eating a pain au chocolat during the Ramadan. Muslims are trying to impose their religious values on the indigenous population of Europe. But is it all Muslims ? No of course. The ones that cause the most problems in France are the Maghrebans. I don't know why that is, but it's a well recognized fact here.
I am surprised that the United Kingdom and Germany do not have major anti-immigration parties like France, or Belgium, or Holland, or Spain. But in fact there are very few Maghreban immigrants in the the United Kingdom and Germany. Is there a link ? Do Maghrebans cause more anti-immigrant feelings than other immigrants ?

The UK and Germany have a lot of Muslims, but enough of them are relatively well behaved, so the bad feelings go to the Muslim radicals only. Islamophobia is on the rise in all the Western world, but there is a strong Extreme Right only in countries where most Muslims are violent and troublesome. I would happily trade all our Moroccans for more peaceful Muslims, like Indians, Bangladeshis, or Turks.
