Interview with Theodoros Pangalos.
This an interview of Theodoros Pangalos (politician).
Unfortunately the interview is in Greek with subtitles in Albanian. Here is the text of the interview in English with Gg translation:
I went to Albania, with the help of Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, and we made a show with Greek and Albanian music. There was great success. There I met different people, I met, for example, the President, who had invited me. I met and the Prime Minister and we talked head to head for a long time. He tried to persuade me of his sincerity, of his love for Greece, and of the need for further rapprochement between the two countries.
I have the impression that we did not do what we should do for Albania! There are no obstacles with Albania, it is not like the Skopje issue, which we can not even mention. We can talk to Albanians and prepare a package of things Rama needs and see this issue of relationship with Albania. I do not think the Greek people? (Perhaps Albanian!) in these moments would support any plan, though crazy, of course, exist in any country, something that has to do with Greater Albania that includes Epirus and Thessaly as some say. Of course there are such people but they are completely separate. Majority of them ask for good relations with Greece in which they come and go. Remember that almost 800,000 Albanians live in Greece and in the last two years have been crowned about 50,000 mixed marriages.
I ask that we have to play some role, and that role should play the government.
We must first get rid of the old myths, like our brotherhood with the Serbs. Serbs are neither our brothers nor nothing, they are ordinary people who have a state. This state sometimes does good things and sometimes wrong things. They have done and designed bleeding. They have always wanted Kavala, which was a pretext to justify their emergence in the Mediterranean. So we do not need to have such ideas. It is good to have good relations with the Serbs, and to play with Crvena Zvezda now that we got the championship with Olympiakos, that is, just so!
How else would it be to avoid recognizing Kosovo? Something for Kosovo's recognition work: Kosovo has 80% Albanians and 20% Serbs! It is natural that Serbs can not govern !!! Albanians will govern! This is the will of the people and we like it or not, it does not matter. On the other hand Albanians have resolved this issue and with NATO membership. That is why we have to make the recognition of Kosovo as it is and in parallel to deal with Albanians for all other issues because this is a major topic. And if we move in this direction, and the Slav speakers of the Republic of Skopje will understand that it is not fair to deal with names like Alexander the Great or Bucefail. And if we refer to that story, we are probably talking about a time when neither Greeks, nor Albanians, nor less Slavs, and all this talk is silly! And if anyone could claim to be the ancestor of Alexander the Great, these are Albanians because his mother, Olimpia was an Illyrian! From there she knew the medicines and poisons. And when Philip made children with a young girl and threatened Alexander's legacy, Olimpia took off her husband.
Interviewer: What we often do not consider to Greeks is how close we are to the Balkan developments, we have a little distorted the prospect.

Whoa, slow down guys. I don't know about others from Celto-Germanic decent, but I feel like I've often been caught in the crossfire. Do you know the history behind these Balkan disagreements? Maybe we can work things out and make amends when nessesary. ^_^
I'm honestly fascinated yet confused at the same time and this might be a good opportunity to learn bits of history not taught by American schools.

Do you know what is funny in this story? That according to Greece the channel of Otranto is no more a channel connect Italy with Albania, but a channel that connects Italy from one side and Greece and Albania from the other side.
And since you remembered the Balcan Wars, you have to know that after the Balkan Wars there was the WWI and the results in greek history is know with a word Catastrophi. Even Venisellos, the most prominent supporter of the chauvunist ideology Megali Idea, at the end considered this an bad idea.
