Depending on the model in GEDMatch I sometimes cluster with them. I did some research on them and they are Eastern Orthodox, Turkish speaking group that has settled in Moldova and in several villages in the Evros prefecture of Greece. Nobody really knows who they were and where they came from. There are some theories that they were Paulist heretics that were moved from their ancestral lands in Asia Minor to Eastern Thrace in the 700s AD. They were persecuted for their beliefs by the Byzantines. During the Russian Turkish War of 1812 they supported the Russians and so they were punished for their insolence. A large part of them ended up in Moldavia and the rest ended up moved to Western Thrace during the exchange of populations between Greece and Turkey in 1922-23. But the two population speak the same dialect of Turkish, share the same Thracian music, the same stories...

Does anybody have anything to add?
