According to the figures compiled last week by Thomson Financial Data, the 24 European stock markets (including Russia) have reached a capitalisation of USD 15,720 billion, slightly ahead of the US capitalisation of USD 15,640 billion.
This can be explained by a decrease in the influence of the USA on financial markets, the strength of the euro, and the rise of the Eastern European economies.
