Historic Day: Kosovo parliament passes vote on creation of Kosovo Army

Until now Kosovo has had only a security force with a legally limited amount of soldiers and only police grade weapons.

Today the parliament passed the law on transforming the security force into a Army in the full legal sense of the word. The law just passed 10 minutes ago.

Statement from the US embassy:

"The United States reaffirms its support for the gradual transition of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) to a force with a territorial defense mandate, as is Kosovo’s sovereign right. The vote in the Assembly today is the first step in developing this capability. "
