I often see very beautiful art and weaponry from Iron Age Europe on Twitter/X. I thought it would be nice to gather these photos in one thread.

Roman gold patera (3rd century CE)
It comes from the Rennes treasure discovered in 1774. The 23-carat, solid gold libation bowl shows a drinking contest between Bacchus and Hercules, its rim inset with 16 aurei coins of emperors and empresses from Hadrian to Geta. Consider also that a single aureus already fetches between 2000€ and 5000€. This patera is surely worth many hundreds of thousands of euros.

Roman gilded Silver Helmet (319-323 CE)
From Deurne, The Netherlands.

An inscription tells that the helmet was made by Marcus Titus Lunamis, using nearly 370 grams of silver sheets. Its owner belonged to the sixth cavalry unit of the equites stablesiani, according to the inscription ‘Stablesia VI’ on the right of the helmet cap.
