This thread is dedicating to sharing maps relating to European society.

This first map shows the old age dependency ratio. East Germany and rural France both suffered from the attraction of their capital. Young people from the countryside moved to Berlin and Paris (and other major cities like Bordeaux, Toulouse, Marseille and Lyon) leaving a much older population behind.

In Spain and Portugal it wasn't only the capital that attracted young people. We can see that in northern Portugal there was a rural exodus toward Porto. In Spain, most of the big cities apart from Madrid are located on the Mediterranean coast (Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Malaga). But overall there is a tendency for young people to migrate away from the wetter and more rural northwest either toward the Mediterranean or to Madrid (or even to the wealthier Basque country).
