Had 38* for 3 - 5 days in a row back at home(continental climate, so supposed to be very rare and a one day a season record occurrance, not almost a week in a row). Had to leave for the seaside, and am happy to say 33 is much more managable, especially in the water.I was going to post it.
The new record of 48.8°C is 0.8°C higher than the 48°C in Athens in 1977.
Also on 11th August this year, just across the sea from Sicily, it was 49°C in Tunis - a full 2 degrees higher than the previous record of 46.8°C in 1982.
