Immigration Sickle-cell disease on the rise in France

the more doctors we have, the more sick people we have
because they make sick people survive but they cure very few
and with genetic induced diseases it is double for the future
it's a never ending spiral

isnt thalassemia endemic to mediterrenean peoples? isnt it just a euphemism to demarcate afflicted southern europeans from north africans?

What is a euphemism?

Are you talking about sickle cell anemia or thalassemia?

Do you even know what thalassemia is?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thalassemia

Are you perhaps another visiting racist t-roll who is trying to make the point that modern Southern Europeans are ALL descended recently from Arabs or North Africans?

Mister, you're in the wrong place. We deal in science here. Thalassemia is selected for in warm places where mosquitoes can breed because it provides some protection against malaria. If you live in cold climates it's not going to be selected for even if the mutation arises. Get it? Malaria was endemic across the whole Mediterranean world for thousands of years even before the Romans.

The point of the article was, as Moesan pointed out, that the percentages of sickle cell anemia are rising in Europe as people carrying it migrate there.
