Never heard of him. I also highly doubt he had any Italian in him, whatever that wiki article might say. He looks like a typical black man from Alabama, maybe fleeing the discrimination there and inventing an identity for himself. If this is what comes to your mind when you think about Italian music, you know as little about it, it seems, as you know about your own ancestry or any other matters Italian.
well angela, the title of the thread is 'songs in italian' and i guess that explains itself; too bad you havent but at least now you have heard of him;
i just read your add on about 'slaves in portugal' and 'discrimination in alabama' ??? do you have a problem with afro-americans singing in italian? and what does any of that has to do with the song? an immense popular song in late 60s italy? but those are questions i dont really want an answer to;
