Anita Delgado Maharajaní of Kapurtala
Anita Delgado Briones was a girl from Malaga who became incredibly Kapurtala Princess and lived in luxurious palaces East as seen in "The Thousand and One Nights", surrounded by the most exquisite and expensive gifts and the most fabulous jewels given to him by his love husband, Maharaja (Maharaja) of Khapurtala.
Anita Delgado, born in Malaga Street Pena, February 8, 1890 and died in Madrid on July 7, 1962. It was a little-known singer of couplets of the early twentieth century. She was the daughter of Angel and Candelaria Delgado Briones, who ran a small cafe, La Castaña (chestnut), in which the girl, with her sister Victoria, soon showed their artistic interests. Began attending acting classes. Anita's interest in the classes that their parents did renew the registration, despite their poor financial position. Finally the situation became untenable and decided to move to Madrid.
In Madrid debuted as the opener in the coffee-Central-Kursaal concert, despite the anger of his father. In this place came many intellectuals and artists, including painters were Julio Romero de Torres and Ricardo Baroja asked the sisters to pose for them. Anita, who was then 16, did not accept the request, but he did his sister Victoria .. and there passed a Hindu prince.
On May 31, 1906 the King of Spain, Alfonso XIII, married Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg. The occasion was attended in Madrid, representatives of the nobility of all the dynasties of the world, including the Maharaja of Kapurtala (India), Jegait Singh, thirty-four and a harem of one hundred and twenty women.
One night, the young Maharaja, he decided to go to a cafe-theater, the Central-Kursaal, where he fell in love with a beautiful dancer named only 16 years old Anita Delgado. They say that the early attempts that young people relate to him, but was vehemently rejected by the Andalusian beautiful young girl.
Valle-Inclán writer, the painter Julio Romero de Torres, Ricardo Baroja and a group of regular commentators who met frequently in this café decided to make Celestine theater and wrote a letter to the Maharaja of Kapurtala, when he had already returned to Paris , giving an explanation of the conditions in which Anita Delgado would accept to marry him.
It was just a joke of intellectuals who led the wedding of Anita Delgado with the Maharaja on the 28th of January 1908.
The ceremony was at the height of such a worthy groom and the bride went to the back of an Indian elephant, richly adorned.
It soon became a couple of fashion style of the time, and travels throughout Europe, America and America were notorious, and even then the paparazzi chasing them everywhere. The gifts of her husband were exquisite and entertained with the best jewels, emerald crescent on the forehead had more veteran elephant palace, which had taken a fancy Andalusian.
By 1918, after the First World War, the couple suffered a crisis, coming soon to the separation. Return to Spain with a niece, while her only son, Ajit, stayed in India. Anita then moved to Paris with her young son born a few years earlier. In Paris attending dances and parties and dinners, where he leads a wayward life and quite funny. Anita lived in luxury in her apartment in the Avenue Victor Hugo by the very generous pension he received from his ex-husband, Maharaja Indian.
Years later she was photographed with his lover and friend, Gines Rodriguez, who was his personal secretary when Anita lived in the royal palaces in Kapurthala. There was speculation about the reason for the separation of Anita Delgado and her husband and was said to be due to the illicit love he had with one of the many sons of the Maharaja.
After the civil war Anita returned to live in Madrid where I enjoy life very comfortably thanks to the money he received on time from her ex-husband, who wanted this live like a princess.
