Viking camp found in Lincolnshire

So it's not just a quick raid type of invasion, they moved in set up a town to live in and prepare to go do some pillaging. So the people in Britain are like sitting ducks just waiting and hoping for the best, or are they not aware that these Vikings are there?
 
If people get Netflix, there's an entertaining series on the conflict between the Saxons and the Vikings. It takes liberties with the history, but imo gets the general parameters right. They would first try to buy them off, and if that didn't work they'd fight them. It's generally the time of King Alfred.
