Hello,
This is my first time posting here, so I would like to apologize in advance if this was posted on the wrong forum.
I recently got my hands on the DNA test data of one of my close relatives (we share Y chromosomes). Sadly he passed away before being able to see the results. I'm fairly certain it is a full genome analysis, but I don't really know any more than that. There is roughly 4,5 GB of data, the main file being a .vcf file named "XXXXXXXXX-DNA_XXX.genome, along with 24 .gz files (named after chromosome pairs), a .tar and a .tbi file. I am really interested in finding out more about my ancestry and tried to follow the general Eupedia guide, but quickly became stuck when I realized I don't even know what company handled the test. So, my questions are:
1. What kind of DNA test is this?
2. What can I do with this data?
3. How do I view data that is relevant to me?
I would appreciate reading material too, but I think I will check out the rest of the site first
Thank you very much
