It is not surprising at all...The Italian_Piedmont average is made mostly with samples from Val Borbera, which is near the Piedmont, Liguria and Emilia border, not far from NW Tuscany.

According to Illustrative DNA and Genoplot, I am closest to Lombardy, actually, but not Bergamo so much. More like South Lombardy.

Do you have any Emilian and South Lombardy co-ordinates available?

The local variation in Italy is remarkable.

I am much closer to Lombardy, Val Borbera, Alessandria and Borgo Taro samples (even though they are further away from my ancestral province of Lucca) than the Lunigiana just to north of Lucca province. My distance to the Lunigiana is ~4.24.

I am actually closer to the Sauris and Timau samples in the Eastern Alps where the people speak (or spoke) a medieval Bavarian dialect!

others are dregs in numbers for Piedmaont, Liguria, Corsica and Apulia

Donau Schwaben = Danube Swabians
