I wonder if this has something to do with the I1 sample from Balma Guilanya and the idea that people migrated from the South into the North again before the Bronze Age. I do not seem to have great affinity to the earlier Scandinavian HGs.

It would be excellent to use those Paleothic samples you have as components for a calculator within and of itself.

I can upload them on Dropbox, if you are interested. Just say which ones and if you need .csv or .txt, merged or single.

Dodecad doesn't work so well with samples that fall outside of the range of modern populations. It will wrongfully assign WHG over steppe for example in modern populations, when modeling in vahaduo.

Probably right, but as far as I know Eurogenes is made by someone who has strong trust in the Steppe Theory. Does the calculator have the same problem?

@Doggerland, I guess Haak was already quite clear about the Balma sample:
Our results highlight the unique genetic structure observed in Iberian HG individuals, which results from admixture of individ-uals related to the GoyetQ2 and Villabruna clusters. This suggests a survival of two lineages of Late Pleistocene ancestry in Holocene western Europe, in particular the Iberian Peninsula, whereas HG ancestry in most other regions was largely replaced by Villabruna-like ancestry. With an age estimate of 18,700 years cal BP for the El Miro ́ n individual, the oldest representative of this mixed ancestry, the timing of this admixture suggests an early connection (terminus ante quem) between putative ancestries from different LGM refugia. It is possible that Goyet Q-2 ancestry could have existed in Iberia in unadmixed form, where it was complemented by Villabruna ancestry as early as $18,700 years ago. Alternatively, both Magdalenian-associated Goyet Q-2 and Villabruna ancestries originated in regions outside Iberia and arrived in Iberia independently, where both lineages admixed, or had already existed in admixed form outside Iberia. Interestingly, the dual Upper Paleolithic ancestry was also found in EN individuals from the Iberian Peninsula, supporting the hypothesis of additional local admixture with resident HGs in Iberia during the time of the Mesolithic-Neolithic transition.

Bell Beakers were about 50% Steppe but had also a considerable neolithic amount, due to mixing of SGC and for example Funnelbeaker/Michelsberg?

The BB spread from Spain is still a theory but is getting less and less likely in favor of a Rhenish/ Dutch cradle....

The ancestry calculators cannot differentiate between Apes and Humans and everything that is in between.

I don’t wanna be mean, but this again points to my view about those ancestry calculators that I had before: They are very selective and designed to show what the creators want them to show. So how reliable are their results? What can we learn from them? Should we build parts of our Identity based on their results?
 
Doggerland: I think all those calculators works with the assumption of some modified form of OOA, not the Recent-Replacement OOA model where some group of ancient East Africans left 40K years ago and diverged and replaced other human groups, but one that still has a basic OOA maintained assumption of some ancient East African population leaving The Horn, etc and then moving into other regions diverging into new population groups, i.e. West/East Eurasian cluster, before splitting into West Eurasian and East Eurasian, then in the West, HG groups, then divergent HG groups forming Neolithic populations groups, etc.

So say for example Dodecad 12, those 11 population groups that are modeled captures the divergence among the OOA populations and anything not captured in those 11 groups falls back into the Sub-Saharan African group as more of an Ancestral population. So sub-Saharan African groups are in these models going to be predicted to have more ancestral alleles vs. derived, perhaps? Neanderthals thus in these calculators are being estimated as having more ancestral alleles hence being assigned with sub-Saharan Africans even though there is no fossil evidence ever indicating Neanderthals lived there.

So for modeling modern Populations, Dodecad12B and others works well, some calculators work better for some modern populations vs. other. Using it to model Neanderthals is outside what the Model was designed to to I think.

So trying to use Dodecad 12B to model Western European HG vs Neolithic Early European Farmer DNA is not really what the model was attended for since DNA from those populations were likely used to come up with the 12 variables/factors in Dodecad 12b to come with Atlantic_Med vs. Caucus, etc.

It turns out my unknown grandfather was fully Heptanesian, either from Lefkada or Ithaca.

I think that Heptanesians are more, what MyHeritage calls, “Italian” and “North and West European,” and less “Greek and South Italian” than other Greek islanders.

Anyway, my mother’s results, using Admixture Studio v2.50 Dodecad K12b values. Her genealogy is 50% Dutch (two centuries South Holland, before that North Brabant), 50% Heptanesian.

You should first get your Dodecad K12b percentages.
1. With GEDmatch, click on 'Admixture (heritage)', then select Dodecad and Admixture Proportions (With link to Oracle). Enter your kit number, select the calculator Dodecad K12b and press Continue. Copy your percentages in the right order separated by commas (no space in between).
The right order is :
Gedrosia, Siberian, North_Africa, SouthEast_Asia, Atlantic, North_Europe, South_Asian, East_Africa, SouthWest_Asia, East_Asia, Caucasus, SSA

2. Go to Vahaduo Dodecad K12b, delete the source coordinates (Ctrll+A to select, then backspace) and replace it by the coordinates of the period of your choice. Just copy and paste the text. You can of course combine different periods, but it makes more sense to compare the percentage of DNA shared with populations that live around the same time.

3. In target, paste your Dodecad K12b coordinates (from step 1), with your name in front separated by a comma (just like in the coordinates you just copied and pasted in the previous step). Click on Distance, then Run to see the closest match with an entire ancient population. You may obtain better results in Single or 2Way to see the potential mix of your ancestral populations.
