Kari you are definitely mixed like me. My results:

Greece and Southern Italy 59%
Balkans 33%
Scandinavia 5.1%
Ashkenazi Jewish 2.8%

My K13 results:

2Greek_Thessaly5.83
3Romanian8.13
4Central_Greek11.38
5Italian_Abruzzo11.74

^^^^^^^^^^^

Kinda makes sense since my folks have lived in Thrace as far back as I could trace. But I am definitely mixed judging from the 5.7 distance.

Yeah i surely am.I have quite high slavic admixture for a greek(around 23% in a 2-way model of aegean like and slavic like populations),and small daco-thraco-illyrian ancestry. My italian admixture pulled me close to ancient people who lived on the balkan peninsula.I also have a small connection to romani people, myheritage showed.I found in gedmatch that I inherit around 1% of my DNA from a Indian-South Asian source

Which pops did you use?

In the 2way model i used sicilians and estonians

In the 2way model i used sicilians and estonians

You may also use Dodecanese or deep mani or a combination of Byzantine era samples as the aegean proxy

i used deep_mani and i got 23,8% estonian.I used dodecanese and i got 31%.31% seems too high.I used the peloponnesian samples which are modeled as 13,4% slavic on the study "Cosmopolitanism at the Roman Danubian Frontier, Slavic Migrations, and the Genomic Formation of Modern Balkan Peoples'',and they get 22,6% if use dodecanese. If i use deep mani they get 14,5% slavic. If i use sicilians they get exactly 13,4%,like the percentage they get in the study.Thats why i prefer sicilians.Mine real Balkan admixture then seems low for a mainlander.

I used Ardea_Latini_IA average to find my italian ancestry.
Distance to: ITA_Ardea_Latini_IA

I am closer to Iron Age italians from ardea_latini than ancient greeks
I calculated it between 15-18%,with an average of 16,2%.Its close to myheritage results.
I think that my italian ancestry pulls me towards ancient and modern balkan populations.

Your results don't indicate 25% Pontic Greek ancestry. You should have higher West Asian. You look more or less a typical Greek mainlander

Yeah i knew my grandfather was pontic i didnt expect that.

It does pick up your grand-dad, that's the 25% Armenian in the 4-way oracle.

The rest of the 75% is typical for your region (matching Bulgarians and other Slavic Balkans).

Typical Bulgarian-Balkan variation result for Northern Greece that didn't mix with Anatolian Greeks (diaspora results are often like this since their communities were close-knit).

You are quite far away from the Southern/Mediterranean Greeks (11+).

Yeah.Interestingly i ran 2 different y-dna predictors and they showed me that i have I2.The morley one showed me I2-PF3634,and
the cladefinder one showed me I-M423.As far as I know,my paternal y-dna is sarakatsani.

My results are normal for a mainlander, but I was surprised by my Italian ancestry.I had probably inherited it from my maternal grandmother, who has origins from Heptanese.

You are probably I2a-din, there's just not enough Y calls in your myheritage file to confirm the SNP.

It's the Slavic haplo in the Balkans, your Karakachan ancestry seems to match that historically, since they are a pastoral group from Bulgaria.

Your grand-dad pulled you closer to South Italy and Mediterranean Greece on the PCA, the rest of the 75% is very northern-like.

Yes but i was expecting a little west asian in the ethnicity estimates.Thats the thing my dad told me about our family. He told me that my paternal grandmother and her ancestors were local to phthiotis, and my paternal grandfather and his sarakatsani ancestors came from the north.

I modelled you using the updated K13 pops.

3.1629304988.60% Macedonian_Central + 11.40% Turkish_East

Seems a bit odd to me. You could have a Pontic grandfather or at least a great-grandfather maybe but the rest is very northern. From what of part of Central Greece is most of your Mainland ancestry? Evrytania/Agrafa maybe or Western Thessaly?

Phthiotis, a small part of my ancestry from Phocis,Heptanese+a small sarakatsani ancestry.
But i believe that my italian ancestry, with the high slavic ancestry, pulled me more close to balkan populations.
Modern balkan populations are already a mix of ancient balkan populations, who were italian like and slavs.
I dont think that i have mixed with arvanites or something. What do you think?

It's splitting hairs, mate.

You have a southern element from your grand-dad and the rest of you is typical for a Balkan result. The oracle would attempt to give you all possible combinations to accomodate this. Another extra 25% from a Pontic grandparent, for example, would put you next to Mani and Crete. Now you hover a bit in no man's land (in oracles), in real life your mix variation is quite common.
