The proposed therapeutic levels of the active ingredient:

Dosage: Unfortunately, we don’t know the optimal dosing. That said, doses from 500-3600 mg of curcumin per day have been used in recent studies. For cancer prevention: 400-500 mg per day (The “Curcumin Guru,” Dr Bharat Aggarwal, says he takes 500 mg per day.) During and after cancer treatment: 800-3000 mg per day (divided dose, with meals.)
- If you want to take turmeric instead of curcumin, how much turmeric powder would you need to take per day? 1 tablespoon of dried turmeric powder weighs 6.8 grams. The average amount of curcumin (by weight) in turmeric powder is 3.4%. So, 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder is equal to 6.8 grams x 3.4% = 0.231 grams or 231 milligrams. Therefore, if you want to take 500 milligram of curcumin per day, you will need to consume approximately 2 tablespoons of dried turmeric powder.

There are numerous companies selling it on amazon.com. As just one example, a 60 count bottle of 500mg per pill is about 7.50 plus shipping. Anyone ordering them should make sure they contain piperine.
I have to take this route.
It's not bad on boiled, fried potatoes or on Chinese noodles cooked in some chicken broth and other spices, and I think I could even acquire a taste for it, but I couldn't eat it every day in high enough amounts to reach the therapeutic levels. I do appreciate the suggestions, however.
Obviously, it's posited to have a protective effect for Alzheimers, beneficial effects for general cognition and memory, anti-cancer properties, and anti-inflammatory effects as well. The pain from certain auto-immune disorders like Rheumatoid arthritis or related auto-immune forms of arthritis, or lupus, for example, comes from inflammation, but the inflammation targets other organs in certain of these diseases as well.
I don't know if cannabis has equal anti-inflammatory effects, but I don't believe it offers any of the other benefits. In addition, some people might not like the mind altering aspects of any recreational drugs (including cannabis, or alcohol for that matter) and think of the havoc it could play with maintaining a girlish figure!
