Is the US on the way to a gerontocracy?
There must be younger, fitter and more clever people running for president than Biden or Trump? Or not....?
Yeah, I don't get it. In 2016 the Republicans had a big field in the primaries, but we ended up with Trump. In 2020 the same for the Democrats and we ended up with Biden.
Maybe smoke-filled rooms were actually a better way of picking candidates.
I vote for Jimmy Carter
I vote for Jimmy Carter
It's no secret who I'm voting for
and you can thank me (and others) anytime you like for Trump 2016 win, ... you’re welcome!
Before the pandemic America has never been so powerful and rich, (Thank you President Trump, Salento and You), and now we are roaring back big.
I couldn’t care less of blabber and character flaws, I ain’t voting for Pope.
... the new Dems are now Anti everything European (racist) ... and by the way, the Dems agenda is a Socialist Agenda.
... no brainer, I also like to keep my money, ...
... and now, be nice to me, if we disagree about politics, we’re not enemies
Trump didn't really do anything to make America rich and powerful though. The best thing he did was a few tax cuts and generally stay out of the economy. of course crazy Democrats will interfere with the economy, try to steal wealth from whites to give to blacks and hispanics, politicize the Federal Reserve, spend without any restrain. So Trump is 1000x better than even the best Democrat. He didn't really stop illegal immigration unfortunately which is my biggest gripe.
Well, I'm old enough that I voted for Carter, and I beg your forgiveness! After all, his favorite band was the Allman Brothers . . . what more could a 20-something ask for?
Like many, I cringe every time Trump speaks or tweets, but, overall, I like the policies I've seen enacted. I'll probably vote for him because I mistrust Biden and the various positions he's taken over the years . . . plus, like many, I think a vote for him is a vote for the Democratic left-wing (socialist, antifa, etc) and Kamala as eventual President.
Lastly, the good thing about democracy is that you get what you asked for, and in many cases, you get it good and hard.
`Well he has been great on Court picks, Justices that read the Constitution and understand this is a Constitutional Republic. Too many things have been shoved down the throats by Liberal Courts that never got a vote on. He has also been the first president going back to Bush 1, who started the China love fest, which has went unabated through Clinton, Bush 2 and Obama, to push back against China. Russia, Russia, Russia, my rear end, the biggest geopolitical threat to the USA is China, They used Free trade deals to turn their economy into the 2nd largest in the world, yet certain industries in China, which are deemed by the State to be critical, and have State Ownership interest, can't be competed against. To get around that, US companies open subsidiaries in China, tightly regulated by the Chinese Government and they must share technology with China. And what isn't shares they steal. They manipulate their currency to keep exchange rates such that they will win in trade, etc.
On those 2 issues alone I will vote against the DEMS, and thus Trump.
I don't know whether I agree with you or not.
Imo, Jimmy Carter was the perfect example of a man with a high IQ (worked as a nuclear engineer for a while for a Lab with which I'm familiar) who is not fitted for the presidency because he has no sense of the realities of politics, and especially not foreign affairs and power politics.
A very good man from all I've read, but an incompetent president, imo.
Carter was smart and good man (nuclear physics and habitats for humanity), but those aren't the qualities that make a good leader. A leader doesn't have to be the smartest guy/gal in the room (just smart enough to pick and listen to good advisors) and being practical is far more important than being "good." Carter was, IMO, skinned alive in the political/diplomatic world by a lot of people who were neither as smart or as good as he. America suffered for it.
`
Can't disagree with you there. Although KAvanagh and Gorsuch have been disappointing to some degree given they have voted against the other conservatives. But still better than fake conservative Roberts.
The biggest reason to vote for Trump is to have my dream of Amy Coney Barett be a justice. The left will will freak out if she replaces RGB and I would enjoy every minute of it.
What do you think Trump's chance is?
