Fort Worden, located in Port Townsend, Washington and four United States Navy ships have been named USS Worden for him. The parade field at the United States Naval Academy is named in his honor.

The I-Team has an update tonight at 5 on the story about a mystery man named Paul Fronczak, who recently discovered through a DNA test that he is NOT the person he thought he was. It started with the sensational kidnapping of a one-day old baby back in 1964 and a heart-breaking "reunion" two years later. Our stories about Fronczak's efforts to find his true identity have generated media interest all over the world. Now, some new developments. We have some additional leads based on new DNA tests, and some surprising news about someone else who has joined the investigation.

The FBI's Chicago bureau has announced it is reopening their investigation into the Fronczak case after locating significant information dating to the baby's original kidnapping from a Chicago hospital. "It was deemed appropriate to take a fresh look at the evidence that we have and possibly re-interview sources that are still around," FBI spokesperson Joan Hyde told the Chicago Tribune. Paul Fronczak, today a grown Nevada man who was found abandoned as a baby at a Newark store, may still not know where he came from but he does feel closer to knowing. After taking a DNA test earlier this year revealing that he is not his Fronczaks' biological son he's uncovered a few additional clues of his own with the help of Ancestry.com, the world's largest genealogy company.

"As identified in the Montgomery DNA Project records Sven Jacob Montgomery is in the J2 haplotype, and he is one of fifteen living Montgomerys who possess exactly matching DYS/STR counts at the 67 DYS analysis level and two at the 37 DYS analysis level. In addition there are twenty three Montgomerys in the Montgomery DNA Project records that differ from the exact matching seventeen in only one DYS (-1) at the 37 or 67 DYS analysis level. Sven’s DNA matching the other Montgomerys is considered to be unquestionable evidence that he is a genetic Montgomery family descendant. The identification of Sven Jacob’s ancestors that is recorded in this research description has been acquired from numerous sources including older Montgomery family histories and official records acquired from the Swedish House of Nobility. Although there are a couple of contradictions between the sources, the composite identification of each of Sven Jacob’s ancestors presented herein is accurate and complete within the limits of the sources. The ancestry begins with Hugh Montgomery, the 1st Earl of Eglinton, and progresses through his son the 1st Neil Montgomery of Lainshaw, his son the 2nd Neil of Lainshaw, and later to the Montgomery who emigrated to Sweden and his descendants. The identification of Sven Jacob’s ancestors presented herein establishes a coherent and logical sequence of descendants whose birth years and residence locations are reasonable in time and location. It is therefore the position of the MBWG that Sven Jacob's ancestry has been validated by the Group's independent research activities. Through genetic science it is known that the male DNA is passed unchanged from father to son. Based on this fact it is therefore reasonable to conclude that Sven Jacob inherited his DNA, unchanged, through each of the identified male Montgomerys in his ancestry. It is also reasonable to conclude that as the first Montgomery in Sven Jacob’s identified ancestry, the 1st Earl's DNA would be an exact match to Sven Jacob's DNA, including the haplotype and DYS/STR counts. Based on the evidence presented herein, it is the unanimous conclusion of the MBWG members that Sven Jacob Montgomery is a descendant of Hugh Montgomery, the 1st Earl of Eglinton."

There is one participant who is J2 with a strong paper trail connection to Hugh Montgomery, 1st Earl of Eglinton and from there, historical records provide evidence that the 1st Earl descends from Roger de Montgomerie, cousin of William the Conquerer."

Falaise, the birthplace of Duke William, was just to the west. One legend claims that Gomeric was a Viking, the son of Ingvar Ragnarson, the King of East Anglis and Northumberland. Gomeric settled in the Calvados area of Normandy and fortified a hill which gave the family its name - Mons Gomerici. Another part of the family, seeking deeper roots, claimed the name could be traced back to a Roman commander called Gomericus.
