Hello! Is much known about the history of the subclade R-df103?
As far as I can tell, I am one of the downstream subclades (R-FGC8158/R-FGC8178). My oldest known paternal ancestor was a native of Saxony in the mid 1700's. Due to to his surname (Bledau/Blodau/Bludau) I have reason to suspect that there could be a connection to germanic settlers and/or teutonic knights during the baltic crusades, as the surname seems to be popular in Konigsberg around that time.
I'm also curious if there could be some connection to one of the Suebic tribes further back in time. I see that the other branch of R-df103 (R-FGC4166) has a lot if testers in the British Isles on FTDNA's website (perhaps a connection with the Angles?) and that there was also a 6th century longobard sample found in Hungary. Pure speculation, but I'm curious to learn what people think about this. Thanks!
