Braunfels Castle.
Introduction
Braunfels Castle was first erected in 1246 as a defensive fortress against the Counts of Nassau. Expanded between the 15th and 17th centuries, the castle suffered a lot during Thirty Years' War, changing hands seven times between 1621 and 1641.
Following the Romantic movement, Braunfels was remodelled in the neo-Gothic style in 1880. The painting gallery has works by Dutch and Flemish Masters, including Jan van Eyck.
Opening Hours & Admission
The castle is open opened the whole year (winter and summer) daily from 8:00 to 18:00. The family museum can be visited on your own (3,00 �).
Admission costs 9 � ( including palacetour and free entry in our family mseum) for adults and 4,00 � for students, 3,00 � for children aged 5 to 10 years old, and free under 5 years old.
