View of Stralsund.
Introduction
Medieval Stralsund was the second most powerful port of Hanseatic League after Lübeck. It enjoys a unique location on an inlet of the Baltic Sea separating the island of Rügen from the mainland. The old town is almost completely surrounded by water.
Stralsund belonged to Sweden between 1648 and 1815. Its well-preserved Brick Gothic architecture has entitled it to World Cultural Heritage status.
