Introduction
Bayonne is the cultural and economic capital of the French Basque Country. Landes of Gascony. The colourful shutters on the windows and the sound of Euskara and Gascon spoken in the streets give the city a unique atmosphere.
Bayonne is famous for its smoked ham, chocolate and marzipan. It is said that the bayonet was invented here in the mid-17th century.
